NCAAF - Texas WR Mike Davis defends low hit on ISU player on Twitter

After his team’s controversial 31-30 win over Iowa State, Texas wideout Mike Davis defended himself late Thursday night on Twitter after being scrutinized for a questionable chop block attempt toward the knee of Iowa State defensive back Deon Broomfield.

I play to the whistle ..... Sorry I was taught that.
— Money Magic Davis jr (@MikeDavis_1) October 4, 2013
Completely away from a play near the goal line that resulted in a Longhorn touchdown, Davis dove directly at the knees of Broomfield. Broomfield turned at the last instant, avoiding what could have been a serious knee or lower leg injury. Texas was assessed a 15-yard personal penalty for what appeared to be a clear attempt to injure an opponent. Texas coach Mack Brown defended his player after the game, saying he thought Davis was “competing” and that he did not hear the whistle. Broomfield had a different view of the situation.
We'll see if Davis will receive any disciplinary action from the Big 12 for the play.
