Mark Fox
Georgia basketball coach Mark Fox donned a red and black wig, spiked shoulder pads and red body paint from the waist up for Saturday's football game between the Bulldogs and sixth-ranked LSU. Fox drew huge applause from Georgia fans when the video board in in Sanford Stadium showed him jumping up and down in his seat alongside other members of the Spike Squad, a segment of the Bulldogs student section known for its body paint, spikes and noise. CBS cameras spotted Fox during the first half, but sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson was unable to get an interview. Fox left the stadium at halftime because he had to go recruit.
Hopefully Fox left on his body paint when he met with the high school prospects he's pursuing. What better way for Fox to showcase his fun-loving side than greeting recruits in full superfan gear?
Missing the NCAA tournament three of his four seasons in Athens has diminished Fox's popularity among Georgia fans, but you'd never know it from the reaction to his outfit on Saturday.
Former Georgia defensive tackle and current New Orleans Saint John Jenkins summed up the appreciation for Fox's enthusiasm when he tweeted, "Much love goes out to Uga head basketball coach Mark Fox for the love and support with the fans."
