Michael Laverty has confirmed he will ride an ART motorcycle for the remainder of this season.
Up until now the Paul Bird Motorsport rider has been using the team's own Aprilia-powered chassis, however, Yonny Hernandez's move to Pramac means the team's ART bike is up for grabs.
And grabbing it is exactly what Laverty has done.
The Ulsterman put his old chassis up against the ART bike at Misano last week after which he decided to swap given that the ART was more competitive.
"The test went well, highlighted the issues I've been talking about with our bike," said Laverty.
"So now rather than saying I think we need to do this or that I can say 100 percent what needs changing for us to improve it.
"They can't make the big changes before the upcoming races so I have elected to ride the ART as I feel I can have better results on it."
Laverty will race the bike for the first time at Aragon this coming weekend.
"It's a completely different bike to ride and set-up so looking forward to getting stuck in at Aragon and see where I can get to on it," he said.
